The appointment gives the Republic of Korea a local point of contact in Västerbotten and provides an additional opportunity to further develop relations and exchange with northern Sweden.

Ambassador John Hyung-jong Lee personally nominated Anders Jonsson for the position, after which the Korean government approved the appointment. During his visit, the Ambassador said he was very pleased to have found a suitable candidate for the role.

– I am convinced that Anders Jonsson is very well suited to this role. With his entrepreneurial spirit, drive and vision, he has all the qualities needed to become an important link between Korea and Västerbotten, says John Hyung-jong Lee.

Anders Jonsson is CEO of Rototilt, a Swedish technology company developing solutions that make excavators more efficient and versatile. The company develops tiltrotators, machine couplers, control systems, work tools and other technical solutions that enable excavator operators around the world to work with greater safety, efficiency and precision. Rototilt’s head office and main production facility are located in Vindeln, where the company has its roots, and the Group also has its own operations in markets around the world.

– I am very pleased and honored to take on this role. Korea is an exciting market, and I look forward to contributing to further strengthening the ties and exchange between Västerbotten and Korea, says Anders Jonsson.

The official ceremony took place at Rototilt’s facility in Vindeln. The Ambassador also presented a larger sign that will be installed at Rototilt’s office in Umeå. Therese Berg, Municipal Chief Executive of Vindeln, and Mathias Haglund, Municipal Commissioner of Vindeln, also attended the ceremony.

The appointment comes at a time when relations between Sweden and Korea are developing and exchange between the two countries is increasing. The new Honorary Consul provides a local link between the Republic of Korea and Västerbotten and creates further opportunities to build relationships in northern Sweden.
