The year 2026 marks an important anniversary for the construction industry. It’s been 40 years since the first tiltrotator was launched—an innovation that has fundamentally transformed the industry. Rototilt is celebrating this milestone with a number of activities throughout the year.

Rototilt was launched in 1986 as the world’s first tiltrotator and has since developed from a trailblazing idea in northern Sweden into an indispensable tool for excavator operators worldwide. Having solved challenges related to mechanical stress in its early years, today’s tiltrotator enjoys improved operating characteristics, an oil-filled rotor housing, and smart solutions for working with hydraulic tools.

Anniversary year 2026 will be more than just a retrospective, but a year where history meets the future. Rototilt is celebrating its 40 years of development with events around the world, and embarking on the next stage of its journey.

“We’re very proud to be celebrating this milestone. The tiltrotator story is filled with bold decisions and technical breakthroughs, all made in close collaboration with our users around the world. But above all, it’s people—employees, customers, and partners alike—that have made this journey possible. This is our opportunity to say thank you and continue looking forward," says Anders Jonsson, CEO of Rototilt Group AB.

40 years is just the start

From 1986 to the present day, Rototilt has played a key role in the development of the industry. With today’s broad product portfolio of tiltrotators, machine couplers, and work tools, our motivation remains the same now as it was back then—making excavators more efficient, safer, and versatile.

“The curiosity and spirit of innovation that have characterized Rototilt since its inception feels just as strong today. We continue to drive technological developments in excavators, today with a sharp focus on deeper integration with the machine’s various control systems in an industry that’s working with ever-smarter machines and electrification," concludes Anders.

Rototilt will be celebrating the tiltrotator throughout the year, among other things with:

  • A presence at trade fairs including Conexpo in Las Vegas, GaLaBau in Germany, and CSPI in Japan. The Swedish Machine Fair, Scotplant (Scotland), Hillhead (UK), and Digtour (France).
  • Customer events at Rototilt’s subsidiaries around the world
  • A major celebratory event in Vindeln this fall, including an open house at the factory.
  • The launch of an expanded history section on the website.
  • User stories – from the pioneers of the 1980s to today’s machine operators.
